View page
US Patent:
8128529, Mar 6, 2012
Filed:
Jul 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/499873
Inventors:
Bradley R. Heuver - South Lyon MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
F16H 57/08
US Classification:
475331
Abstract:
An assembly for stabilizing a gear unit of a transmission for an automotive vehicle includes a first component fixed against displacement along an axis, a carrier facing the first component, supported for rotation about the axis, and supporting planet pinion thereon, and springs located between the first component and the carrier, producing axial forces distributed angularly around the axis and applied to the carrier.

US Patent:
8348802, Jan 8, 2013
Filed:
Apr 30, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/433015
Inventors:
Bradley R. Heuver - South Lyon MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
F16H 57/08
F16D 25/0638
US Classification:
475331, 192 8545
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a piston-actuated clutch assembly for a transmission. Interconnecting members are integrated into a pressure plate of the clutch assembly. The interlocking members are configured to selectively interlock the piston and the pressure plate. The location of the interlocking members reduces wear on the piston and other transmission components.

Park Lock Mechanism For An Automatic Transmission

View page
US Patent:
57947481, Aug 18, 1998
Filed:
Oct 15, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/731634
Inventors:
Bradley Ronald Heuver - Garden City MI
Dale Eltinge Martin - Novi MI
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, Inc. - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60T 106
B60K 4126
US Classification:
192 4A
Abstract:
A park lock mechanism for an automatic transmission includes a park apply rod for selectively engaging and disengaging a park pawl with a park gear. The park apply rod is actuated by a plate member having a slot formed therein. The slot defines a cam portion and a lost motion portion whereby the cam portion causes the park apply rod to move longitudinally so as to actuate the park pawl. The lost motion portion limits longitudinal travel of the park apply rod in any gear other than park. A reaction member is also used to limit the degrees of freedom of the park apply rod.
