Abstract:
Linux, UNIX and other operating systems allow for the customization of the boot up process by adding symbolic links and scripts to certain directories in the root filesystem. Such customization is done at the time the system is created or updated via patches. The current disclosure teaches a method to simplify customization, both from the standpoint of installation as well as from the standpoint of the application developer. This abstract is provided as a tool for those searching for patents, and not as a limitation on the scope of the claims.
