Sep 24, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/160785
Inventors:
Aron Nacman - Penfield NY
Isaak Rivshin - Pittsford NY
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B41J 247
US Classification:
347235
Abstract:
The present invention is an apparatus for digitally controlling the output of multiple laser diodes in a system that forms a plurality of scan lines in a Raster Output Scanning (ROS) system. Output of the laser diodes is digitally controlled by a multi-channel integrated circuit to eliminate propagation delay and linearity differences commonly found between single-channel modulation control devices.

View page
US Patent:
6424751, Jul 23, 2002
Filed:
Sep 23, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/159533
Inventors:
Michael K. Carney - Fairport NY
Ramesh Nagarajan - Fairport NY
Anthony M. Frumusa - Penfield NY
William A. Cook - Pittsford NY
Aron Nacman - Penfield NY
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G06K 938
US Classification:
382272, 382298, 358451
Abstract:
A system and method for reducing an image by receiving a scaling factor which defines a window. Input pixel intensities of the image are summed in real time as they are input and stored until all pixels within the window have been received. The sum is then divided by the number of pixels within the window which produces an average intensity. A pixel having the average intensity is output.

Filed:
Nov 22, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/718707
Inventors:
Aron Nacman - Penfield NY
Ramesh Nagarajan - Fairport NY
William A. Cook - Pittsford NY
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G06K 936
US Classification:
382298, 358451
Abstract:
A system and method for selective scaling of an image by selective implementation of a window averaging processing technique or an interpolation processing technique. For enlargement scaling, the interpolation processor is implemented. For reduction scaling, the window averaging processor is implemented. For anamorphic scaling, the window averaging processor may be selected and implemented for reduction processing pursuant to a two-pass processing technique wherein the interpolator processing will be implemented thereafter. Image tags are provided for selective scaling of each area of an image according to the type of content of each area by selective implementation of a window averaging processing technique or an interpolation processing technique. The interpolation processor is implemented for line drawing areas of an image, and the window averaging processor is implemented for contone areas of the image. For anamorphic scaling with image tags, a two-pass system is provided which performs a first-pass reduction in one direction followed by a second-pass enlargement in the remaining direction, wherein the reduction is performed in the manner described for reduction scaling.

Fast Scan Image Registration Method And Apparatus For High Addressable Video Systems

View page
US Patent:
6778293, Aug 17, 2004
Filed:
Dec 2, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/204395
Inventors:
Aron Nacman - Penfield NY
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G01D 1516
US Classification:
358 17, 358 118, 358 15, 358 112, 382151
Abstract:
Multiple components of an image produced by an image output device including a raster output scanner are registered by delaying an output high addressable bit stream for a time following each raster start of scan. A multiplicity of error values are added resulting in a total error integer component and a factional component. Following the start of scan, a line sync generator delays for a number of first clock signals proportional to the integer component. After the delay, the line sync generator signals a buffer to input a video input byte. A parallel to serial shift register converts the input video byte into a high addressable bit stream. A delay register further delays the bit stream by the fractional component, which further refines where, along the raster, the bit stream will commence. Suitably, the system corrects for the errors in run time as the fast scan line is scanned.
