Parent was affected by Diabetes Mellitus Type II, CHF, hypertension, affected vision from damage and treatment for diabetic retinopathy, limited ambulation due to muscular atrophy stemming from history diagnosis of Polymyositis and vascular disease, and was an ESRD (HemoDialysis) patient. Home care included Diabetes care including fingerstick with glucose meter and log updates, administration of oral meds, subcutaneous Insulin (Lispro rDNA Humalog) admin, observation and treatment of mild hypoglycemic event and sudden severe hypoglycemia crisis. Created home ADL type chart for parent to log diet, meds passed or incidents in my absence. Open wound care per MD orders, including wet-to-dry dressing changes, utilizing sterile packing strip gauze, 2x2 or 4x4 gauze pads, gauze rolls, swabs, topical use of triple antibiotic, Povidone, Betadine, Neosporin, leading to successful wound healing. Domestic assistance, i.e. bedmaking, cooking, cleaning, transportation, transfer to/from car, recreation, restorative PT, while placing emphasis on independence.
