Customized Wall Map Printing System

View page
US Patent:
20060010100, Jan 12, 2006
Filed:
Feb 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/057962
Inventors:
John McAvoy - Deerfield IL, US
Lloyd Wendland - Newport Beach CA, US
Brian Nguyen - Garden Grove CA, US
Tara Arnold - Buffalo Grove IL, US
Alan Yefsky - Hawthorn Woods IL, US
Polly Greathouse - Libertyville IL, US
Sean Breyer - Buffalo Grove IL, US
Barbara Benstead - Morton Grove IL, US
Ashton Lamont - Kenosha WI, US
Assignee:
RAND McNALLY & COMPANY - Skokie IL
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707002000
Abstract:
An electronic wall map design and printing system enables a user to select or specify the size, coverage area and detail level of a wall map and to customize the wall map based on the user's needs via a fully automated electronic interface. For ease of viewing during the creation of the wall map, the design and printing system displays the wall map being designed on the electronic user interface at a first detail level or resolution that is less than the level of detail or resolution used to print the wall map. However, the user may use the electronic interface to view portions of the wall map on the user interface at the same level of detail to be actually printed on the wall map to thereby enable the user to assure that the level of detail to be printed on the wall map is adequate for the user's purposes without making the wall map, as printed, hard to read. Once the user has designed the wall map by selecting the size, coverage area, and other customizable features such as titles, specialized icons, etc., the user may have the wall map printed at a printing facility owned by the map provider or may have the wall map sent to and printed by a third party printer such as a copying service located near the user.

Abstract:
A reaching apparatus is provided for allowing a user to utilize gross motor skills to actuate the reaching apparatus. The reaching apparatus includes a fixed and a sliding handle on a shaft. An internal pulley system is connected between the first and second handles such that sliding of the second handle activates the pulley system to move the claw of the reaching apparatus between an open and closed configuration. The claw may be locked in an open and/or closed configuration by rotation of the handle on the shaft. The pulley system can be set to specific resistance to activate the claw upon different gross motor levels.

Prop Wrap

US Patent:
20170266579, Sep 21, 2017
Filed:
Mar 15, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/460224
Inventors:
Alan D. Yefsky - Hawthorn Woods IL, US
Amanda K. Reber - Elk Grove Village IL, US
Richard K. Glenn - Schaumburg IL, US
Amy G. Buckbee - Arlington Heights IL, US
Assignee:
MCCORMICK'S GROUP, LLC - Arlington Heights IL
International Classification:
A63J 1/02
B32B 37/12
B32B 38/00
Abstract:
A prop wrap in the current invention can quickly and easily change the appearance of irregularly shaped rigid props used in pageantry art shows and enable the prop to graphically integrate with the show's concept, design, and theme. The prop wrap provides a flexible film on which an infinite number of designs can be applied. These designs include but are not limited to customized patterns that integrate tightly with the shows, school mascots, or group logos. By using the prop wrap a user is not limited to solid colors or simple patterns made available by conventional methods of painting or taping props. Each piece of the prop wrap incorporates a unique cutting pattern that matches a designated surface of a specific prop, such as a particular model and size of mock rifles, shakos, or shoes. This allows the prop wrap to align perfectly to the shape and size of the prop when it is affixed to the prop. The prop wrap also serves to protect the prop itself.

Helix Cane Stopper

View page
US Patent:
20140373887, Dec 25, 2014
Filed:
Jun 25, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/926192
Inventors:
- West Des Moines IA, US
David Buckley - Wandsworth, GB
Hayley Philippault - Kent, GB
Nicholas Camilleri - London, GB
Tara Marie Arnold - Buffalo Grove IL, US
Alan Yefsky - Hawthorn Woods IL, US
International Classification:
A45B 9/04
US Classification:
135 77
Abstract:
A cane tip is provided for use with a cane or other walking assistive device. The cane tip includes a core for receiving a portion of the walking device. A plurality of helix shaped ribs extend from the core and form a pentagonal shaped perimeter. A softer material may be bonded to the ribs to provide a tread for gripping surfaces of the cane tip. The upper and lower members include a generally inner concave portion that is above the tread or bottom of the ribs. The concave portion and ribs provide cushioning while a user provides a down force to the cane tip during a standard use thereof. The cane tip also provides for self-supporting of the cane tip on generally level surfaces, as well as maintaining continual contact with the surface of the ground throughout the user's gait, unlike existing cane tips.
