Deep Desulfurization Process

View page
US Patent:
20100294698, Nov 25, 2010
Filed:
May 20, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/469609
Inventors:
Marcus Dutra e Mello - Moraga CA, US
Akshay Verma - Richmond CA, US
Sheila Yeh - Orinda CA, US
International Classification:
C10G 45/02
US Classification:
208210
Abstract:
Methods for producing a substantially desulfurized hydrocarbon fuel stream, using no substantial amount of hydrogen, at pressures less than 125 psig are described. The process uses two fixed beds in series to remove sulfur and/or other heteroatoms to produce a substantially desulfurized (less than 1 ppm sulfur) hydrocarbon fuel stream. The first fixed bed uses a transition metal catalyst dispersed on an inorganic oxide matrix and the second bed uses a high surface area, porous, amorphous inorganic oxide catalyst or a high surface area porous carbonaceous catalyst. The second fixed bed can additionally comprise one or more metals.

Denitrification Of A Hydrocarbon Feed

US Patent:
20120024751, Feb 2, 2012
Filed:
Jul 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/847107
Inventors:
Zunqing He - San Rafael CA, US
Akshay Verma - Richmond CA, US
Zhen Zhou - Emeryville CA, US
International Classification:
C10G 25/12
C10G 69/02
C10G 45/58
C10G 25/00
US Classification:
208 57, 208 60, 208 91, 208251 H, 208254 R
Abstract:
A denitrification method is disclosed for removing nitrogen compounds from a hydrocarbon feed in which the feed is contacted with an adsorbent including an organic heterocyclic salt deposited on a porous support. Additionally, a method for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon feed which includes a hydroprocessing step is disclosed, wherein prior to hydroprocessing, the feed is contacted with an adsorbent including an organic heterocyclic salt deposited on a support. Additionally, a method for producing a lube oil which includes isomerization dewaxing of a base oil fraction is disclosed, wherein prior to the isomerization dewaxing step, the base oil fraction is contacted with an adsorbent including an organic heterocyclic salt deposited on a support.

Treatment Of A Hydrocarbon Feed

US Patent:
20120024756, Feb 2, 2012
Filed:
Jul 12, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/180629
Inventors:
Akshay Verma - Richmond CA, US
Zunqing He - San Rafael CA, US
Zhen Zhou - Emeryville CA, US
Marcus Dutra e Mellon - Moraga CA, US
Sheila Yeh - Orinda CA, US
International Classification:
C10G 55/02
C10G 57/00
C10G 25/00
US Classification:
208 91, 208236
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for removing impurities such as nitrogen and/or sulfur compounds from a hydrocarbon feed, in which the feed is contacted with an adsorbent including a nitrogen-containing organic heterocyclic salt deposited on a porous support, e.g., a supported ionic liquid. Additionally, a method for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon feed which includes a hydroprocessing step is disclosed, wherein prior to hydroprocessing, the feed is contacted with an adsorbent including a supported ionic liquid. Additionally, a method for producing a lube oil which includes isomerization dewaxing of a base oil fraction is disclosed, wherein prior to the isomerization dewaxing step, the base oil fraction is contacted with an adsorbent including a supported ionic liquid. In one embodiment, the adsorbent is regenerated to restore its treatment capacity.

Mitigating Hydrate Formation During A Shutdown Of A Deep Water Fpso

View page
US Patent:
20160168972, Jun 16, 2016
Filed:
Dec 11, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/567560
Inventors:
- San Ramon CA, US
Akshay Verma - Houston TX, US
Steven Edward Johnson - Houston TX, US
Zunqing He - San Rafael CA, US
Assignee:
CHEVRON U.S.A. INC. - San Ramon CA
International Classification:
E21B 43/34
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for avoiding hydrate formation during a shutdown of a deep-water floating production, storage and offloading unit with a long distance tie back. In one embodiment the system is configured such that during a shutdown at least a portion of fluids in the production flow loop are delivered to the one or more wash tanks in the hull. Advantageously, this may allow one to avoid having to oversize the expensive top-side equipment.
