Door Access Handle With Integrated Lock-Out Function

View page
US Patent:
7784841, Aug 31, 2010
Filed:
Dec 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/611534
Inventors:
Scott Watson - Farmington Hills MI, US
David Kovie - Farmington Hills MI, US
Adam Tacey - Farmington Hills MI, US
Assignee:
Nissan Technical Center North America, Inc. - Farmington Hills MI
International Classification:
E05B 3/00
B60J 10/08
US Classification:
2923363, 292 32, 292 40, 292 44, 292 52, 292DIG 31, 2961469
Abstract:
A vehicle has a door release apparatus for a first door supporting a door latch for a second door. A first door latch connects the first door with respect to a frame defining a vehicle body opening. A handle member has at least an inboard portion and is mounted to the first door for movement about an axis. A force transmission assembly is operably engaged between the handle member and the first door latch for movement between a latch-engaged position and a latch-released position. A door release lock-out is defined by a portion of the second door directly obstructing movement of the handle member, when the second door is in the at least partially latched position. The door release lock-out prevents movement of the handle member a sufficient distance to release the first door latch from the frame when the second door is in the at least partially latched position.

US Patent:
8414063, Apr 9, 2013
Filed:
Jul 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/189126
Inventors:
Scott Watson - Novi MI, US
Adam David Tacey - Wixom MI, US
Assignee:
Nissan North America, Inc. - Franklin TN
International Classification:
B60J 10/08
US Classification:
2961469
Abstract:
A first seal installed on a first body structure has a first sealing surface extending in a vertical direction and a first sealing projection spaced apart from the first sealing surface. A second seal installed on a second body structure has a second sealing surface extending in the vertical direction and a second sealing projection spaced apart from the second sealing surface. With the second body structure in a closed position and adjacent the first body structure, the second sealing surface contacts the first sealing surface to form a first vertical sealing line between the first and second body structures and the second sealing projection contacts the first sealing projection to form a second vertical sealing line between the first and second body structures along at least upper portions of the first and second body structures by elastic deformation of at least one of the first and second sealing projections.

Vehicle Door Handle Assembly

US Patent:
20070069532, Mar 29, 2007
Filed:
Sep 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/231986
Inventors:
Aaron Tenorio - Shelby Twp MI, US
Adam Tacey - Waterford MI, US
Assignee:
Nissan Technical Center North America, Inc. - Farmington Hills MI
International Classification:
E05B 3/00
US Classification:
292336300
Abstract:
A vehicle door handle assembly includes a mounting bracket and a handle. The mounting bracket is configured and dimensioned to be mounted within a vehicle door. The handle is pivotally coupled to the mounting bracket to pivot about a pivot axis between a latching position and a latch release position. The handle is basically an elongated member that includes a pivot portion, a grip portion and a counterbalancing portion. The grip portion extends perpendicularly relative to the pivot axis from a first side of the pivot portion. The counterbalancing portion extends perpendicularly relative to the pivot axis from a second side of the pivot portion. The grip portion and the counterbalancing portion are configured and dimensioned such that a center of gravity of the handle is located proximate the pivot axis.

Vehicle Door Closing Energy Reduction Through Hvac Mode Door Control

View page
US Patent:
20080115517, May 22, 2008
Filed:
Nov 20, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/561655
Inventors:
Adam Tacey - Farmington Hills MI, US
David Lyon - Farmington Hills MI, US
Laura Bentley - Farmington Hills MI, US
Assignee:
NISSAN TECHNICAL CENTER NORTH AMERICA, INC. - Farmington Hills MI
International Classification:
B60H 1/00
US Classification:
62244
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing a partial recirculation mode of operation in an HVAC control system of a vehicle to place a fresh air passage, a recirculation passage, and an interior passage in fluid communication to reduce vehicle door closing energy by allowing external discharge of cabin air pressure from the interior passenger compartment through the fresh air passage during vehicle door closure. The partial recirculation mode bypasses distribution vent covers, distribution ductwork, heater and evaporator cores, and blowers in order to open a more direct air outlet path to atmosphere which can be activated as required in order to reduce vehicle door closing energy. The partial recirculation mode of operation is activated in response to predetermined vehicle conditions, such as, ignition switched off seat belt unbuckled, transmission switched to park, emergency brake applied, vehicle door opened, vehicle door unlocked, and/or vehicle seat sensor switched to unoccupied.
