Multifunctional Lighting System

View page
US Patent:
20220178510, Jun 9, 2022
Filed:
Dec 4, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/112477
Inventors:
- Troy MI, US
Adam L. BUSHRE - Saranac MI, US
Assignee:
ams OSRAM Automotive Lighting Systems USA Inc. - Troy MI
International Classification:
F21S 41/275
F21S 45/48
B60Q 1/08
Abstract:
A lighting assembly is provided with a housing defining a cavity with a rearward opening and a forward opening formed opposite the rearward opening along a longitudinal axis. A plurality of light sources is supported by the housing and disposed within the rearward opening. A first lens is supported by the housing with a plurality of optics each aligned with one of the plurality of light sources to receive light and collimate the received light within the housing, wherein the first lens is formed of glass. A second lens is disposed within the forward opening of the housing to receive the collimated light and generate an illumination pattern.

Solid-State Vehicle Headlamp Having Spherodial Reflector Optic And Clamshell Reflector

View page
US Patent:
20190063716, Feb 28, 2019
Filed:
Aug 25, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/686824
Inventors:
Adam Bushre - Saranac MI, US
Assignee:
OSRAM SYLVANIA Inc. - Wilmington MA
International Classification:
F21S 8/10
Abstract:
A solid-state automotive vehicle headlamp includes a solid-state light source (SSLS), a clamshell reflector, and a reflector optic. The clamshell reflector includes a reflective surface defining a clamshell cavity with an open end facing a field to be illuminated. The reflector optic is defined by a portion of a spherical surface in surrounding relation to the SSLC. The reflector optic defines a light-transmissive window permitting a direct line-of-sight transmission of light generated by the SSLC to the reflective surface of the clamshell reflector. The reflector optic further includes a reflective region at least partially surrounding the light-transmissive window and configured to reflect light generated by the SSLC and directed at the reflector optic back towards the SSLC. The reflector optic redirects some of the light emitted by the SSLC through the light-transmissive window towards the clamshell reflector to create a more controlled beam pattern and increase the overall light output.

Led Low Profile Linear Front Fog Module

View page
US Patent:
20140092619, Apr 3, 2014
Filed:
Oct 1, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/632201
Inventors:
- Danvers MA, US
Adam L. Bushre - Saranac MI, US
Assignee:
OSRAM SYLVANIA INC. - Danvers MA
International Classification:
B60Q 1/20
F21V 5/04
US Classification:
362520
Abstract:
A fog lamp for a vehicle is disclosed. Light leaving an LED is collected by a refractive/TIR lens. The central portion of the refractive/TIR lens is purely refractive, while the peripheral portion of the lens includes a total internal reflection off an exterior surface of the lens. The refractive/TIR lens converges the light to a focus at or near a laterally-elongated aperture in a light baffle. Light exiting the aperture diverges and passes through an anamorphic lens, which reduces the angular extent of the beam in the vertical direction and increases the angular extent in the lateral direction. The full fog lamp may include multiple pairs of LEDs and respective refractive/TIR lenses, all arranged coplanar, parallel and laterally adjacent to each other. The LED/lens pairs may all direct light through a single light baffle and through a single anamorphic lens.
