Abstract:
A Neodymium-Iron-Boron permanent magnet which is substantially wider across a first axis than across the perpendicular second axis. The second axis is the axis defining the north and south poles of the magnet. At one of the poles is a permalloy cap which is substantially parallel to the first axis and inhibits the extension of magnetic flux from that pole and encourages instead a deep extension of the magnetic flux from the other pole. An aperture penetrates the magnet through the second axis which is wider at the pole away from the permalloy cap than it is at the pole adjacent to the permalloy cap. The shape of this aperture causes a distortion of the deeply extending magnetic flux lines at the pole away from the permalloy cap to be pinched inward toward the second axis rather than being parallel to it. The magnet thus provides a concentrated magnetic force that extends deeply out of its base so that the magnet can be placed on the exterior of a vessel or conduit with the result that the fluid inside is treated with optimized magnetic force.

The invention pertains to an Internet conference call bridge management (ICCBM) system and method with which a person (customer) having access to the Internet may efficiently input the contact number of at least one party (call recipient) with whom the customer wants to speak. Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for detecting a lock in a phase-locked loop (PLL) are disclosed. In one aspect, a lock detect component includes a reference multiplier and a lock detect. The reference multiplier can receive a reference signal, a divider signal, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) output generated by a VCO in a PLL from which the divider signal is generated. The reference multiplier can also generate a multiplied reference signal using the reference signal and the VCO output. The multiplied reference signal can have a frequency that is an integer multiple of a frequency of the reference signal. The lock detect can detect a phase lock of the reference signal and the divider signal based at least in part on comparing a signal generated from a delayed reference signal and a signal generated from a delayed divider signal for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract:
There is provided an air cleaner which includes an air inlet, a first electromagnetic wave shield disposed adjacent to the air inlet, an electrical means for air induction, a second electromagnetic wave shield disposed adjacent to the air outlet, and a grounding means. The electrical means for air induction draws in air through the first electromagnetic wave shield and exhausts it towards the air outlet and through the second electromagnetic the wave shield. The grounding means discharges current induced in the first and second electromagnetic wave shields. There is also provided a method describing the operation of an embodiment of the air cleaner.

Abstract:
The invention pertains to an Internet conference call bridge management (ICCBM) system and method with which a person (customer) having access to the Internet may efficiently input the contact number of at least one party (call recipient) with whom the customer wants to speak. The ICCBM system then calls the customer, calls the party or parties, and the audio signals are bridged in a manner that optimizes the call signal to noise ratio, minimizes demands placed on computing resources, and provides controls with which the customer may monitor and control the telephonic access of the other participants through the duration of the conference call.

Abstract:
A mathematically driven system which can be used to diagnose a student's strengths and weaknesses and provide studying strategies based on these strengths and weaknesses. The invention bases studying suggestions not on raw test scores or on simple metrics such as “percent correct”, but on the student's potential to increase their test score by studying a particular topic. The inventive method includes the steps of administering an exam with composite questions relating to a subject and an associated study strategy therefor; analyzing results of said exam to diagnose strengths and weaknesses of a student with respect to said subjects and strategies; and outputting data with respect to optimal strategies for the student with respect to said subjects.
