Abstract:
The traditional association rule problem is extended by allowing a weight to be associate with each item in a transaction to reflect interest/intensity of each item within the transaction. The weighted association rules from a set of tuple lists are discovered, where each tuple consists of an item and an associated weight and each tuple list consists multiple tuples. The weighted association rules (WARs) are generated where some subset of items forms the consequent part of the rule (i. e. , right hand side of the rule) and some other (non-overlapped) subset of items from the antecedent part of the rule (i. e. , left hand side of the rule). The range of the weight value of each item is specified in the said rule such that the number of tuples satisfying both the left hand side and right hand side of the rules exceeds a pre-specified support level (referred to as the support requirement) and the fraction of tuples satisfying the left hand side also satisfying the right hand side exceeds a pre-specified confidence level (referred to as the confidence requirement).

Abstract:
A system is described in which the Master can stop its clock and go into a low-power state (for power conservation reasons) at arbitrary times. Before going into the stopped-clock or low-power mode, the Master checks that the serial bus is idle (defined as both Clock and Data lines being âHighâ). A latch circuit is provided which is active when them aster is in low-power mode. The latch circuit watches for the very first negative-going clock pulse (from the slave), and its configuration is such that when latched, it holds the clock line low. Holding the clock line low prompts the slave to discontinue efforts to send the data. Stated differently, the slave will not conclude that it had successfully sent its data, and this prompts the slave to retain a copy of its data for later resending.

A wireless host is used with a computer having a BIOS, an operating system, a serial bus interface coupled with the BIOS, the wireless host operating under a protocol that functions only in the presence of a corresponding wireless communications driver in the operating system, and the BIOS characterized in that human interface device information received via the serial bus interface is made available to the operating system by means other than the wireless communications driver. Human interface device information is received via the wireless host. Depending on a predetermined condition, the human interface device information is passed to a wireless communications driver in the operating system, or is passed to the serial bus interface and is made available to the operating system by means other than the wireless communications driver. The predetermined condition may be the absence of the wireless communications driver, or for example may be the determination that the human interface device information is an escape sequence. In this way, user communications to the computer can be robust even in the event of operating system or software failure.

A system and method for determining patterns in a data sequence constructs a compatibility matrix which provides a probability between an actual occurrence of an item and an observed occurrence of that or another item between each item in the data sequence. Candidate patterns are generated. The candidate patterns include items in the data sequence. At least one subsequence of the event sequence and at least pattern in the at least one subsequence is identified, such that the at least one pattern exceeds a minimum number of repetitions in the at least one subsequence, and a distance between successive repetitions of the at least one pattern in the at least one subsequence does not exceed a predefined distance threshold. At least one of the at least one pattern and the at least one subsequence is stored.

An electric power meter having a digital sampler for sampling a voltage and a current at a sampling point and having a processor for processing at least one of the sampled voltage and the sampled current. Abstract:
A system and method are provided for discovering significant patterns from a list of records in a dataset. Each record includes a set of items, and each significant pattern includes a subset of items such that a significance of the pattern exceeds a significance level. A significance is computed for each item in the list of records to determine significant items. The records are randomly sampled to select a sample portion of the records. Ambiguous patterns are identified against the sample portion of the records and verified against the entire list of records in the dataset.
