Hydraulic Coupling

View page
US Patent:
6905142, Jun 14, 2005
Filed:
Sep 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/669734
Inventors:
Tai Do - Fountain Valley CA, US
Tung N. Le - Westminster CA, US
Luis F. Lozano - Garden Grove CA, US
Assignee:
Huck Patents, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
F16L055/00
US Classification:
285 89, 285386, 285 92, 285322
Abstract:
An improved hydraulic coupling includes a fitting and a nut that are threadably connectable together. The fitting includes a generally annular groove having a lateral frusto-conic engagement surface. The nut includes a plurality of elongated fingers that each include a projection having an outwardly-disposed edge. When the coupling is assembled, the edges are frictionally engaged with the engagement surface as a result of the elastic deflection of the fingers. The frusto-conic shape of the engagement surface provides progressively greater frictional resistance in a direction of unthreading of the coupling, whereby loosening of the coupling during operation of the fluid circuit is resisted.

Hydraulic Connector

View page
US Patent:
48772712, Oct 31, 1989
Filed:
Apr 1, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/032700
Inventors:
Daniel J. McCorkle - Irvine CA
Tai H. Do - Fountain Valley CA
Assignee:
Rexnord Inc. - Torrance CA
International Classification:
F16L 3500
US Classification:
285 39
Abstract:
A fluid connection is formed between a tube for carrying fluid and a parent material having a surface wherein the fluid passes between the tube and the parent material. The connection has a first wall in the parent material defining a flow passage having a first diameter in the parent material for the fluid. A second wall is formed between the first wall and the surface of the parent material. Threads are formed in the parent material between the second wall and the surface of the parent material for engaging an insert. A tube having an end portion placed adjacent the second wall is used in the joint wherein the tube is sealed in the parent material between the first wall and the threads in the parent material. An insert engages the threads for maintaining the tube in a sealed condition.

Hydraulic Fitting Nut Lock

View page
US Patent:
50944916, Mar 10, 1992
Filed:
Sep 28, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/589713
Inventors:
Franz I. Berghammer - Huntington Beach CA
Douglas Pyle - Costa Mesa CA
Tai H. Do - Huntington Beach CA
Wilhelm F. Schepergerdes - El Toro CA
Thomas E. Harbin - Westminster CA
Assignee:
VSI Corporation - Carson CA
International Classification:
F16L 5500
US Classification:
285 92
Abstract:
A fluid connector fitting nut lock includes a sleeve that fits down over the nut and that has an integral locking mechanism to fix the sleeve in a raised position that allows the nut to be turned and in a locked position that prevents the nut from backing off due to vibration or other external forces. The integral locking mechanism eliminates the need for a separate lockwire or clipwire.

Hydraulic Fitting Locks

View page
US Patent:
52695662, Dec 14, 1993
Filed:
Oct 31, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/430317
Inventors:
Tai H. Do - Huntington Beach CA
Thomas E. Harbin - Westminster CA
Wilhelm F. Schepergerdes - El Toro CA
Marvin P. Reece - Dana Point CA
Daniel J. McCorkle - Irvine CA
Assignee:
VSI Corporation - CA
International Classification:
F16L 3500
US Classification:
285 39
Abstract:
A fluid connector and lock combination is described for connecting a tube to a base element. A relatively fixed, threaded base element has a passageway for passing fluid. A threaded mounting connector for surrounding the circumference of a portion of a tube is provided and which also mounts the tube to the relatively fixed, threaded base element through threaded engagement. The connector maintains a seal between the tube and a corresponding surface in the base element when the connector is sufficiently threaded to a sealed position relative to the base element to prevent leakage of fluid across the seal. A linkage is provided between the connector and the base element for preventing unthreading of the connector from the sealed position relative to the base element. The linkage includes a first portion which is linked to the connector and a second portion which engages slidingly in an axial direction the base element for preventing relative rotation between the connector and the base element.

Barrel Nut Fastener Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
48612073, Aug 29, 1989
Filed:
Jun 24, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/210798
Inventors:
Tai H. Do - Fountain Valley CA
Assignee:
Rexnord Inc. - Torrance CA
International Classification:
F16B 3700
US Classification:
411104
Abstract:
A barrel nut fastener apparatus that includes a nut loosely retained in a prescribed position by a retainer that is adapted to be slidably received in a cylindrical bore formed in a panel. The nut is carried loosely on a seat formed in the retainer and is positioned to threadedly receive a bolt projecting through aligned transverse holes in both the panel and the retainer. The nut and seat have conforming cross-shaped configurations such that the compressive force of their engagement is distributed over a relatively large area, thereby substantially reducing the possibility of the nut being deformed if the bolt is overtightened.
