Abstract:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions that resist water-whitening are provided. The compositions comprise emulsion copolymers formed from a plurality of monomers that includes a plurality of (meth)acrylic monomers, at least one trifluoroalkyl(meth)acrylate monomer, and at least one alkylimidazolidone (meth)acrylate monomer. Preferably, the (meth)acrylic monomers comprise a plurality of soft monomers, at least one hard monomer and at least one acid monomer. The plurality of monomers may further include at least one aliphatic urethane di(meth)acrylate, an oligomer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition also comprises a surfactant system including at least one surfactant.

Abstract:
A print and apply system configured to facilitate the application of a flow of activatable labels with variable length to a flow of items, including a roll of activatable label stock with a facestock and an activatable adhesive layer; a software program configured to create a layout for each of the flow of activatable labels with variable length; a printer configured to print on the facestock; a cutter configured to cut off a specific length from the roll of activatable label stock to form the flow of activatable labels according to the layout; an activation unit to activate the adhesive layer to turn it tacky; and, an applicator unit configured to receive and place the labels with activated adhesive onto a flow of items to be labeled. Related methods and uses are described.

Abstract:
Methods for preparing copolymeric emulsions from at least one water soluble monomer and at least one water insoluble monomer are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, one or more surfactants and stabilizers may be used. In some embodiments, the monomers used in the process include, by total monomer weight, at least 50% water soluble monomers and at least 10% water insoluble monomers. Copolymer emulsions formed from the reaction product of at least one water soluble monomer and at least one water insoluble monomer are also disclosed along with articles coated with such emulsions and coating formulations made from such emulsions as well as methods for the manufacture and coating of such articles.
