Abstract:
Graphitic nanotubes, which include tubular fullerenes (commonly called âbuckytubesâ) and fibrils, which are functionalized by chemical substitution, are used as solid supports in electrogenerated chemiluminescence assays. The graphitic nanotubes are chemically modified with functional group biomolecules prior to use in an assay. Association of electrochemiluminescent ruthenium complexes with the functional group biomolecule-modified nanotubes permits detection of molecules including nucleic acids, antigens, enzymes, and enzyme substrates by multiple formats.

System And Method For Error Recovery Using Naks

View page
US Patent:
20020174395, Nov 21, 2002
Filed:
May 21, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/861740
Inventors:
Wen-Yi Kuo - Morganville NJ, US
Gang Li - Bridgewater NJ, US
Ming Lu - Hillsborough NJ, US
Martin Meyers - Montclair NJ, US
International Classification:
H04L001/18
G08C025/02
US Classification:
714/748000
Abstract:
In a system of communication, a sending node sends a message to a receiving node, which NAKs unsuccessful transmissions. The sending node screens the NAKs to determine if they were sent before the receiver could receive previous transmissions of the same data NAKed. One screening technique is based on an estimated round trip time of a message. Another alternate technique looks a flag in the NAK that synchronizes the sender and the receiver.

Detection Of Elevated Levels Of Her-2/Neu Protein On Circulating Cancer Cells And Treatment

View page
US Patent:
20080261243, Oct 23, 2008
Filed:
Oct 6, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/575811
Inventors:
Robert M. Lorence - Bethesda MD, US
Ming Lu - Potomac MD, US
Assignee:
WELLSTAT BIOLOGICS CORPORATION - Gaitherbsurg MD
International Classification:
G01N 33/574
US Classification:
435 723
Abstract:
The expression of Her-2/neu protein on circulating cancer cells in a blood sample is detected by isolating the cancer cells from the blood sample and then performing on the isolated cancer cells a sensitive Her-2/neu immunoassay. A positive result indicates the expression of Her-2/neu on cancer cells in the blood sample. This method can be used to identify cancer patients who are likely to benefit from treatment with an anticancer agent that targets Her-2/neu, such as trastuzumab (HERCEPTIN).

Detection Of Steroid Receptors On Circulating Carcinoma Cells And Treatment

US Patent:
20090291920, Nov 26, 2009
Filed:
Apr 18, 2007
Appl. No.:
12/296458
Inventors:
Ming Lu - Potomac MD, US
Robert M. Lorence - Bethesda MD, US
Assignee:
WELLSTAT BIOLOGICS CORPORATION - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
A61K 31/566
C12Q 1/02
A61K 31/565
A61K 31/4353
A61K 31/4196
US Classification:
514 77, 435 29, 514182, 514300, 514383
Abstract:
The expression of a steroid receptor from circulating carcinoma cells in a blood sample is detected by isolating the carcinoma cells from the blood sample, making an extract from the isolated carcinoma cells and then performing on the extract a sensitive immunoassay capable of detecting the carcinoma cell-associated steroid receptor. A positive result indicates the presence of the steroid receptor in the carcinoma cells. This method can be used to identify cancer patients who are likely to benefit from treatment with an endocrine therapeutic agent.

Detection Of Elevated Levels Of Her-2/Neu Protein From Non-Isolated Circulating Cancer Cells And Treatment

US Patent:
20100120072, May 13, 2010
Filed:
Apr 15, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/593160
Inventors:
Robert M. Lorence - Bethesda MD, US
Ming Lu - Potomac MD, US
Assignee:
WELLSTAT BIOLOGICS CORPORATION - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
G01N 33/574
US Classification:
435 723
Abstract:
The expression of Her-2/neu protein on circulating cancer cells in a sample of blood or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) is detected by performing a sensitive Her-2/neu immunoassay. There is no need to isolate the cancer cells before performing the immunoassay. A positive result indicates the expression of Her-2/neu on cancer cells in the blood sample. This method can be used to identify cancer patients who are likely to benefit from treatment with an anticancer agent that targets Her-2/neu, such as trastuzumab (HERCEPTIN), lapatinib, CP-724,714, NKI-272, and BMS-599626
