Abstract:
Described herein are techniques pertaining to real-time propagation of an arbitrary audio signal in a fixed virtual environment with dynamic audio sources and receivers. A wave-based numerical simulator is configured to compute response signals in the virtual environment with respect to a sample signal at various source and receiver locations. The response signals are compressed and placed in the frequency domain to generate frequency responses. Such frequency responses are selectively convolved with the arbitrary audio signal to allow real-time propagation with moving sources and receivers in the virtual environment.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for generating real-time, personalized recommendations are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method operates upon an electronic data collection organized as a network of vertices and edge connections between the vertices. The method provides the recommendations includes iteratively traversing across edges that satisfy search criteria to a new set of vertices and filtering each new set of vertices to satisfy the search criteria. At the conclusion of the traversing and filtering, a final set of vertices represents the recommended entities. In some embodiments, a control vector describes a sequence of relationships between a requester and the items to be recommended. The method can assign scores to candidate recommendations and select the recommendations having the highest scores. Advantageously, the method provides flexibility and rapid execution of recommendation queries without the need to precompute intermediate results.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for enhanced detection of fraudulent electronic transactions are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system uses the ongoing stream of transactions to construct and maintain a dynamically evolving merchant relationship graph. When a proposed transaction is submitted to the system, the system computes a predicted likelihood that the given account would make a transaction with these characteristics with the given merchant. The graph is used to compute transitive relatedness between merchants which may be indirectly associated with one another, as well as to compute aggregate relatedness, when there are multiple avenues of relationship between two merchants.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for simulating sound propagation are disclosed. According to one exemplary method, the method includes decomposing a scene having at least one object into at least one near-object region and at least one far-object region. The method also includes generating at least one transfer function for the at least one near-object region, wherein the at least one transfer function maps an incoming sound field reaching the at least one object to an outgoing sound field emanating from the at least one object, wherein the incoming sound field is based on a geometric acoustic technique and the outgoing sound field is based on a numerical acoustic technique. Abstract:
Simulation-based estimation of elasticity parameters and use of same for non-invasive cancer detection and cancer staging are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method for simulation-based estimation of elasticity parameters includes constructing a 3D model of an object comprising biological tissue, the model having a first shape and an elasticity value. A simulation iteration is then performed, which includes simulating the application of an external force to the model, causing the model to have a second shape, measuring the difference between the second shape and a target shape, and determining whether the measured difference between the second shape and the target shape is within a threshold of error. If the measured difference is not within the threshold of error, the process performs additional iterations using adjusted elasticity or force values until the measured difference is within the threshold of error, at which time the final elasticity and force values are reported. In one embodiment, the elasticity value is mapped to a diagnostic parameter, such as an indication of the possibility, presence, or stage of cancer.
