Method And System Of Embedding A Boot Loader As System Firmware

View page
US Patent:
7765393, Jul 27, 2010
Filed:
Jul 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/484979
Inventors:
Min Eig Lee - Palo Alto CA, US
Chih-Yi Chen - San Jose CA, US
Huynh Duc Mai - Milpitas CA, US
Pradeep Kalra - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Network Appliance, Inc. - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G06F 9/00
US Classification:
713 2, 714 6
Abstract:
An IBM PC compatible processing system typically has a BIOS installed as system firmware. During a boot process of the processing system, the BIOS loads a boot loader from one of the boot media, i. e. , hard drives, floppy disks, CDs, USB flash memories, taps, etc. and passes control of the boot loader, the boot loader then loads an OS from the boot media. The present invention takes advantage of the higher reliability and availability provided by the system flash memory and stores a boot loader as system firmware in the system flash memory. Further, it provides changes in the BIOS boot process to load the boot loader from system memory, the ROM, for example, without relying on boot media. With this new process, the boot loader can be loaded even when the boot media is corrupt, defective or un-initialized.

US Classification:
506 4, 506 6, 506 9, 506 12, 435 71
Abstract:
The invention provides a method for identifying a ligand that binds to a macromolecular target. The methods involve (a) attaching an antenna moiety to a first ligand, wherein the ligand binds specifically to a macromolecular target; (b) providing a sample comprising the macromolecular target, the first ligand and a candidate second ligand under conditions wherein the first ligand and the macromolecular target form a bound complex; (c) detecting a subset of magnetization transfer signals between the antenna moiety of the first ligand and the second candidate ligand, wherein the signals are obtained from an isotope edited NOESY spectrum of the sample; thereby determining that the two ligands are proximal in a bound complex, and identifying a second ligand that binds to the macromolecular target.

High Concentration Formulations Of Opioids And Opioid Derivatives

View page
US Patent:
20040102476, May 27, 2004
Filed:
Nov 25, 2002
Appl. No.:

Inventors:
Tai Chan - Palo Alto CA, US
Wilma Tamraz - San Jose CA, US
Min Lee - Saratoga CA, US
International Classification:
A61K031/445
A61K031/19
US Classification:
514/317000, 514/557000
Abstract:
The present invention provides opioid formulations suitable for long-term delivery to a subject. The formulation of the invention comprises an opioid or opioid derivative (e.g., morphine, hydromorphone, fentanyl or a fentanyl congener), and an aqueous solvent comprising a low molecular weight carboxylic acid (e.g., C, C). The invention thus provides for formulations comprising morphine, hydromorphone, fentanyl or fentanyl congeners in concentrations significantly in excess of conventional aqueous formulations, e.g., on the order about 2-fold to about 10,000-fold greater than conventional formulations, e.g., currently commercially available formulations.
