Abstract:
An autonomous vehicle (AV) includes features that allows the AV to comply with applicable regulations and statues for performing safe driving operation. An example method for operating the AV includes determining a trajectory related information of a vehicle operating on a roadway on which the AV is operating; receiving sensor data of a first area that includes the vehicle; determining an additional trajectory related information for the AV by comparing the trajectory related information of the vehicle to a current trajectory related information of the AV, wherein the additional trajectory related information is based on a category to which the vehicle belongs, and wherein the additional trajectory related information allows the AV to maintain at least a distance between the AV and the vehicle; and causing the AV to operate in accordance with the additional trajectory related information.

Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Joyce Tam - Pleasanton CA, US
Bin Huang - Huntington Beach CA, US
International Classification:
B60W 60/00
B60W 40/02

G05D 1/02
G07C 5/08
H04W 4/46
Abstract:
A system comprises an autonomous vehicle (AV) and a control device operably coupled with the AV. The control device receives, from an operation server, a command to navigate the AV to avoid an expected road condition. The control device receives, from sensors of the AV, sensor data comprising location coordinates of a plurality of objects ahead of the AV. The control device determines whether at least one object from the plurality of objects impedes performing the command. In response to determining that at least one object impedes performing the command, the control device updates the command, such that the updated command comprises one or more navigation instructions to avoid the at least one object while performing the command. The control device navigates the AV according to the updated command.

US Patent:
20220348224, Nov 3, 2022
Filed:
Apr 29, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/243981
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Joyce Tam - Pleasanton CA, US
Bin Huang - Huntington Beach CA, US
International Classification:
B60W 60/00
B60W 40/02
B60W 50/00
G05D 1/02
H04W 4/46
Abstract:
A system comprises a lead autonomous vehicle (AV), a control device associated with the lead AV, and a following AV. The control device receives a command to navigate the lead AV to avoid an unexpected road condition. The control device receives sensor data from a sensor of the lead AV, comprising location coordinates of objects ahead of the lead AV. The control device accesses environmental data associated with a portion of a road between the lead AV and following AV. The environmental data comprises location coordinates of objects between the lead AV and following AV. The control device determines whether an object in the sensor data or environmental data impedes performing the command by the following AV. The control device updates the command, if the control device determines that an object impedes performing the command by the following AV, and communicates the updated command to the following AV.

US Patent:
20220348227, Nov 3, 2022
Filed:
Apr 28, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/661273
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Joyce TAM - Pleasanton CA, US
Dishi LI - Ann Arbor MI, US
International Classification:
B60W 60/00
B60W 30/18
Abstract:
An autonomous vehicle (AV) includes features that allows the AV to comply with applicable regulations and statues for performing safe driving operation. An example system for an AV includes obtaining, by a computer located in the AV, an image from a camera located on the AV, where the image characterizes an area towards which the AV is driven on a lane on a road or a highway; determining, from the image, that a pedestrian or a cyclist is located next to the lane on the road or the highway; and in response to the determining, performing driving operations on the AV such as steering from a center of the lane to a first side of the lane that is away from the center of the lane and away from a location of the pedestrian or the cyclist, and/or slowing down the AV in response to certain conditions.

US Patent:
20220227389, Jul 21, 2022
Filed:
Jan 15, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/150581
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Joyce Tam - Pleasanton CA, US
International Classification:
B60W 60/00
G05D 1/02
G05D 1/00
G07C 5/00
G07C 5/08
Abstract:
A system includes an autonomous vehicle (AV) comprising a sensor, a control subsystem, and an operation server. The control subsystem receives sensor data comprising location coordinates of the AV from the sensor. The operation server detects an unexpected event from the sensor data, comprising at least one of an accident, an inspection, and a report request. The operation server receives a message from a user comprising a request to access particular information regarding the AV and location data. The operation server associates the AV with the user if the location coordinates of the AV match location data of the user. The operation server generates a ticket for the unexpected ticket. The operation server communicates the particular information to the user. The operation server provides instructions to be forwarded to the user based on a request from the user. The operation server closes the ticket if the unexpected event is addressed.

G01S 15/58
G01S 15/931
G06V 20/58
G06N 3/08
Abstract:
An autonomous vehicle includes audio sensors configured to detect audio in an environment around the autonomous vehicle and to generate audio signals based on the detected audio. A processor in the autonomous vehicle receives the audio signals and compares a time domain or frequency domain representation of the audio signals to a corresponding representation of a known emergency vehicle siren. The comparison causes the processor to output a first determination indicating whether the audio signals are indicative of an emergency vehicle siren. The processor also applies a trained neural network to the audio signals that causes the processor to output a second determination indicating whether the audio signals are indicative of the emergency vehicle siren. If the first determination or the second determination indicates presence of an emergency vehicle siren in the environment around the autonomous vehicle, the autonomous vehicle is caused to perform an action.

US Patent:
20230020040, Jan 19, 2023
Filed:
Jul 13, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/374855
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Joyce Tam - Pleasanton CA, US
International Classification:
G08G 1/00
B60W 60/00
Abstract:
A system for instructing an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) to perform a minimal risk condition maneuver comprises a fleet of AVs and an oversight server. The oversight server receives macro information that applies to a plurality of AVs from the fleet. The oversight server generates a batch command based on the macro information. The batch command is associated with one or more conditions. The oversight server determines whether each AV meets the one or more conditions. If the oversight server determines that the AV meets the one or more conditions, the oversight server sends the batch command to the AV. The batch command includes instructions to perform a minimal risk condition maneuver.
