Abstract:
A peritoneal dialysis device displays on a graphical interface a plurality of parameters and any values currently assigned to the parameters, and in response to a user selecting one of the displayed parameters, allows the user to input a value to be assigned to one of the parameters. A value is set for a number of fills parameter or a dwell time parameter based on the value received from the user.Parameter values are set in a peritoneal dialysis device by receiving from a user a selection of a therapy type, receiving from a user values for a plurality of parameters, calculating a value for a plurality of additional parameters based on the values received from the user, determining whether values for one or more of the plurality of parameters or one or more of the additional parameters do not meet one or more criteria, and, if necessary, updating one or more of the values received from the user so that all of the values for the plurality of parameters and the additional parameters meet all the criteria.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for gray image based text identification. A gray image of a document is preferably subsampled to reduce the amount of information to be processed, while retaining sufficient information for successful processing. The subsampled image is subjected to preprocessing to remove horizontal and vertical lines. The image is then subjected to a morphological open operation. The image is then segmented to separate foreground and background information to produce a foreground image. Region filtering and merging are performed on the foreground image. Region features are then extracted and region identification performed. Homogenous regions are grouped and noise elimination performed, resulting in a number of small regions of known types. Optical character recognition can then be performed on each of the regions. The use of the information provided by variations in pixel lightness and darkness enables text identification to proceed quickly and efficiently.

Abstract:
A dialysis machine (e.g., a peritoneal dialysis (PD) machine) can include a patient line that provides dialysate solution to a patient and removes effluent dialysate from the patient through a catheter. During a drain phase of a PD treatment, an occlusion can occur at different locations in the patient line and/or catheter. A pressure sensor can detect a change in pressure of the fluid at the proximal end of the patient line to infer a potential occlusion in the patient line. Prior to setting an alarm to alert the patient of the blockage in the patient line, operating parameters of the PD machine can be changed to attempt to correct the issue. In an embodiment, the pump mechanism can be cycled at a reduced speed or a reduced rate in order to confirm the occlusion or attempt to alleviate the low fluid flow condition before the alarm is set.
