Stable And High Speed Full Range Laser Wavelength Tuning With Reduced Group Delay And Temperature Variation Compensation

View page
US Patent:
6937627, Aug 30, 2005
Filed:
Jan 6, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/337081
Inventors:
Jian Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
H01S003/30
H01S003/10
H01S003/083
US Classification:
372 6, 372 94, 372 20
Abstract:
A fiber-based ring cavity tunable laser is disclosed in this invention that has full range high speed tuning achieved by combining a optical tunable filter with a period comb-shaped filter with central wavelengths anchored on International Telecommunication Union (ITU) grids. By using segments of dispersion managed fibers with predefined segment lengths the group delay differences are also reduced. The temperature sensitivity of optical transmission is also reduced by arranging the longitudinal axis of different segments of the optical fibers to orient with a relative angular difference, e. g. , with an angular difference of ninety degrees.

Polishing Head Test Station

View page
US Patent:
7089782, Aug 15, 2006
Filed:
Jan 9, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/339172
Inventors:
Jian Lin - Milpitas CA, US
Volker Geissler - Dresden, DE
Jens-Michael Wendler - Dippoldiswalde, DE
Assignee:
Applied Materials, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
G01M 3/02
US Classification:
73 37
Abstract:
A test station for testing polishing heads for planarizing semiconductor wafers and other substrates has a head positioning control system which can precisely position the polishing head at one of many electronically controlled positions above the test station platform. The test station may also include a lateral carriage assembly which supports the polishing head above a base plate of the station and permits the polishing head to be moved in a gliding motion above the surface of the test station test wafer. A sensor senses when the carriage of the assembly is moved from a load position. In response, the test station controller causes a vertical actuator to lift the head mount in the vertical or Z direction. In this position, there is sufficient clearance for the polishing head being carried by the carriage to slide under the head mount and into position for mounting to the head adapter. The carriage includes a carriage plate, the top surface of which defines a generally disk segment shaped recess which is sized and shaped to receive the bottom of a polishing head of a first size, such as a polishing head adapted to hold 300 mm semiconductor wafers for polishing, for example.

Iq Imbalance Correction

Ernest T. Tsui - Cupertino CA, US
Jian Lin - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H03H 7/30
H03H 7/40
H03K 5/159
US Classification:
375229, 333 18, 333 28, 342194, 375147, 375296, 375324, 375346, 708300, 708819
Abstract:
An in-phase and guadrature (IQ) imbalance error-correction method includes estimating, on the basis of a constellation error in a received orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal, an extent of an I/Q imbalance error, caused by direct IQ conversion of the received OFDM signal. On the basis of that extent, an equalizing transformation that reduces that error is estimated.

The bottom surface of the retaining ring can include flat, sloped and curved portions. The lapping can be performed using a machine that dedicated for use in lapping the bottom surface of retaining rings. During the lapping the ring can be permitted to rotate freely about an axis of the ring. The bottom surface of the retaining ring can have curved or flat portions.

Low-Level Remote Sharing Of Local Devices In A Remote Access Session Across A Computer Network

View page
US Patent:
8037191, Oct 11, 2011
Filed:
Nov 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/267955
Inventors:
Jian Lin - Pleasant Hill CA, US
Zheng Yuan - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709227
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a remote access session may be established between a first computer and a second computer. In response to detecting a device in low-level local communication with the first computer via a first local communication port of the first computer, the low-level local communication at the first local communication port may be intercepted and transmitted to the second computer via the remote access session. Then, the low-level local communication may be injected to a second local communication port of the second computer, wherein the second computer responds to the low-level local communication as though the device were located at the second local communication port of the second computer. For example, the device may be configured to autoconnect with the second computer via the remote access session when the device is connected to the first computer.
