Rf Pulse Synchronization For Data Acquisition Operations

View page
US Patent:
7852325, Dec 14, 2010
Filed:
Jan 5, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/620466
Inventors:
Jack I-Chieh Fu - Milpitas CA, US
Christopher Tenzin Mullens - Santa Clara CA, US
Assignee:
Apple Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 3/042
G06F 3/043
US Classification:
345174, 345175, 345176, 370201, 700 94
Abstract:
Data acquisition from a touch-surface input unit may be disrupted during the generation of radio frequency (“RF”) pulses. To mitigate this problem, touch-surface data acquisition is temporarily halted during RF pulse generation. Data collected prior to temporarily halting is retained, with subsequently acquired data being added to prior collected data.

Techniques For Pairing Remote Controllers With Host Devices

View page
US Patent:
20070080823, Apr 12, 2007
Filed:
Oct 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/245937
Inventors:
Jack Fu - Milpitas CA, US
Jesse Devine - Oakland CA, US
Myra Haggerty - San Mateo CA, US
Steve Hotelling - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
G05B 19/02
G08C 19/00
US Classification:
340825220, 340825690
Abstract:
Techniques for associating a wireless controller to a host device are disclosed. Once associated, the host device is responsive to the associated wireless controller but not responsive to other wireless controllers that may be in the vicinity. Subsequently, if desired, the association with the wireless controller can be removed and a different association with another wireless controller can be invoked. As an example, the wireless controller can be a portable remote controller, and the host device can be a personal computer, a home stereo, a portable media player, or a docking station for a portable media player. In one implementation, the portable remote controller can be an infrared remote controller.

System And Method For Capturing Remote Control Device Command Signals

View page
US Patent:
20100123598, May 20, 2010
Filed:
Mar 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/401350
Inventors:
Rainer Brodersen - San Jose CA, US
Stephanie Cinereski - Mountain View CA, US
Jack I-Chieh Fu - San Mateo CA, US
Assignee:
APPLE INC. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G08C 19/16
US Classification:
34082569
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus for identifying protocols. In one aspect, a method includes comparing characteristics of a wireless signal received from a remote control to characteristics associated with a set of protocols. The method also includes assigning a score, based upon the comparison, to each protocol included in the plurality of protocols. The method also includes identifying a protocol from the set of protocols based upon the assigned scores. The identified protocol is substantially similar to a protocol associated with the wireless signal.

System And Method For Capturing Remote Control Device Command Signals

View page
US Patent:
20100123834, May 20, 2010
Filed:
Mar 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/401556
Inventors:
Rainer Brodersen - San Jose CA, US
Stephanie Cinereski - Mountain View CA, US
Jack I-Chieh Fu - San Mateo CA, US
Assignee:
APPLE INC. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
H04N 5/44
US Classification:
348734, 348E05096
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus for learning remote control command signals by a media processing device. In one aspect, a method includes activating a learning mode of operation, presenting an instruction to actuate a control associated with a secondary remote control device, capturing a command signal transmitted by the secondary remote control device while the learning mode is active, generating a mapping that associates a representation of the captured command signal with a media processing device function, and storing the generated mapping in a profile corresponding to the secondary remote control device. Further, a control symbol identifying the control associated with the secondary remote control device can be displayed. Additionally, a progress bar can be displayed indicating a period for which the control is to be actuated.

Rf Pulse Synchronization For Data Acquisition Operations

US Patent:
20110069031, Mar 24, 2011
Filed:
Nov 24, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/954557
Inventors:
Jack I-Chieh FU - San Mateo CA, US
Christopher Tenzin Mullens - San Francisco CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/041
US Classification:
345173
Abstract:
Data acquisition from a touch-surface input unit may be disrupted during the generation of radio frequency (“RF”) pulses. Interrupt-Based Notifications For Display Setting Changes

View page
US Patent:
20120026202, Feb 2, 2012
Filed:
Oct 4, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/897407
Inventors:
Maciej Maciesowicz - Gilroy CA, US
Jack I. Fu - San Mateo CA, US
David W. Lum - Cupertino CA, US
Assignee:
APPLE INC. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G09G 5/10
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345690, 345214
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that communicates a change in a display setting from a display to a host system for the display. During operation, the system determines at the display that the display setting has changed. Next, in response to the change, the system sends an interrupt from the display to the host system through a first interface, wherein the interrupt informs the host system that the display setting has changed. After sending the interrupt to the host system, the system receives a request from the host system to obtain values for one or more display settings including the changed display setting. In response to the request, the system sends updated values for the one or more display settings to the host system.

Wireless Accessory Device Pairing Transfer Between Multiple Host Devices

View page
US Patent:
20120083208, Apr 5, 2012
Filed:
Sep 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/895607
Inventors:
Michael J. Giles - San Jose CA, US
Jack I-Chieh Fu - San Mateo CA, US
Christopher T. Mullens - San Francisco CA, US
Craig P. Dooley - Cupertino CA, US
Adrian E. Sun - Mountain View CA, US
Assignee:
APPLE INC. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
H04B 7/00
US Classification:
455 412, 455 68
Abstract:
A wireless communications system includes an accessory device and multiple host devices. A host device pairs wirelessly with an accessory device using a unique link key, detects a primary trigger event and responds by transferring automatically its pairing with the accessory device to a second host device while all devices remain within wireless range of each other. The pairing transfer involves communicating the link key to the second host device, unpairing the accessory device from the first host device, and establishing a wireless pairing of the accessory device to the second host device. The primary trigger event can involve establishing a ported connection between host devices. A secondary trigger event results in the first host device automatically reclaiming its pairing with the accessory device. An accessory device can also select and pair with one of multiple host devices in response to a specific user gesture detected by the accessory device.
