Method And Apparatus For Graphical Representation Of Real-Time Data

View page
US Patent:
20020032637, Mar 14, 2002
Filed:
Feb 13, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/782932
Inventors:
David Moshal - San Francisco CA, US
Eric Ly - Mountain View CA, US
Michael Lenz - Mountain View CA, US
Lonnie Eldridge - San Mateo CA, US
Judge Arora - Los Gatos CA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/037000
Abstract:
A method for effecting and monitoring a real-time, multi-participant process via a network. In one embodiment, the method includes periodically collecting real-time data regarding the real-time process, and periodically updating a display comprising a graphical representation of a current state of the process using the real-time data. The method further includes receiving user inputs via the display, wherein the user inputs include changes to the real-time data, and in response to the user inputs, updating the display to reflect the changes to the real-time data.

System For Graphical Representation Of Real-Time Data

View page
US Patent:
20020054040, May 9, 2002
Filed:
Feb 13, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/782823
Inventors:
David Moshal - San Francisco CA, US
Eric Ly - Mountain View CA, US
Michael Lenz - Mountain View CA, US
Lonnie Eldridge - San Mateo CA, US
Judge Arora - Los Gatos CA, US
International Classification:
G06T011/20
US Classification:
345/440000
Abstract:
A system for effecting and monitoring a real-time process that is participated in by multiple participants over a network. In one embodiment, multiple components of the system include: at least one participant computer with a display; at least one server coupled to the at least one participant computer through the network; and at least one memory device that stores instructions. When the instructions are executed, they cause a processor to periodically collect real-time data regarding the real-time process, and periodically update a display with a graphical representation of a current state of the process using the real-time data. The instructions also cause the processor to receive participant inputs via the display, wherein the participant inputs include changes to the real-time data. The processor also updates the display to reflect the changes to the real-time data in response to the participant inputs.

Method For Graphical Classification Of Unstructured Data

View page
US Patent:
20030206201, Nov 6, 2003
Filed:
May 3, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/138706
Inventors:
Eric Ly - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/835000, 345/440000, 345/968000
Abstract:
The method for graphical classification of unstructured data provides a process operating on a computer system that has an input area for generating and viewing unstructured data. The unstructured data may be arranged, modified, and used in a way that facilitates creativity. Structure is added to the data by association the data with one or more categories. These categories may be assigned to an axis on the display, with each category comprising a plurality of labels. Data may be classified graphically be moving and associating an individual data object with a particular label in a category. Data can be classified using many categories, thereby adding significant structure and organization to the data. However, a user may specify the number and type of categories to be used while inputting, modifying, analyzing, and viewing the data.

Method For Graphical Collaboration With Unstructured Data

View page
US Patent:
20030206203, Nov 6, 2003
Filed:
Jun 13, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/170992
Inventors:
Eric Ly - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/853000, 345/854000
Abstract:
Briefly, the method for graphical collaboration with unstructured data provides multiple concurrent collaboration displays. One or more of the collaboration displays may be configured as a free-form display where a data object may be generated and viewed. Structure may be added to the data object by associating the data with one or more categories, where each category relates to a higher-level concept. Each collaboration display may use a selectable set of categories to display the data object. In this way, each collaboration display may be configured to view the data object with a desired level of structure. In a particular example, the data object may be added or modified in one of the collaboration displays, and that addition or change is indicated on the other collaboration displays substantially simultaneously.

Method For Project Planning

View page
US Patent:
20040017400, Jan 29, 2004
Filed:
Jul 26, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/205736
Inventors:
Eric Ly - Sunnyvale CA, US
Michael Lenz - Mountain View CA, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/810000
Abstract:
The method for project planning provides a process operating on a computer system that enables project planning information to be displayed and arranged in different display environments. First, the process provides a flexible data arrangement display environment. The data arrangement display enables generating and manipulating data objects in a manner that facilitates creativity, and may include graphically associating the generated data objects with defined categories. In this way, the project planning information may be entered, viewed, and categorized. Second, the process also provides a more traditional project planning environment having task lists, task attributes, and task schedules. The more traditional project planning display enables sophisticated analysis and manipulation of project planning information. By selecting a particular environment, the process converts the project planning information into a form for viewing and manipulation in the selected display.

Method Of Leveraging Social Networking With A Messaging Client

View page
US Patent:
20070250585, Oct 25, 2007
Filed:
Feb 26, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/678978
Inventors:
Eric Ly - Los Altos CA, US
Edward Tau - San Jose CA, US
James Work - Mountain View CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16

709206000
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for leveraging social networking information with a messaging client are disclosed. In one aspect, a messaging client (e.g., email client), or an application designed to be closely integrated with an email client, analyzes a message to identify a sender, and then generates a query including information identifying the sender that is forwarded to a social networking application to be processed. The social networking application returns information about the sender (e.g., from a social networking profile), that can be viewed by a user of the messaging client, thereby providing additional information about the sender of a particular message.
