Resource Monitoring On A Mobile Device

View page
US Patent:
20110109472, May 12, 2011
Filed:
Jul 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/847882
Inventors:
Charles S. Spirakis - Mountain View CA, US
Russell S. Heywood - Santa Clara CA, US
Don T. Vo - San Jose CA, US
Edward T. Lu - Saratoga CA, US
Assignee:
GOOGLE INC. - Mountain View CA
International Classification:
G08C 15/06
US Classification:
34087002, 34087007
Abstract:
A first set of data reflects usage of a resource based on readings from a metering device located at a first user's premises. A second set of data reflects usage of the resource at multiple other user premises. Comparison and usage indicators are generated based one the first and second sets of data. A comparison indicator is generated based on the first set of data and the second set of data. A usage indicator is generated based on the first set of data. The usage indicator reflects the usage of the resource at the first user's premises over a period of time and the comparison indicator reflects the same usage relative to the usage at the multiple user premises over the same period of time. The comparison indicator and the usage indicator are sent to a mobile device that displays the indicators.

System And Method For Assigning Permissions To Access Data And Perform Actions In A Computer System

View page
US Patent:
20120240193, Sep 20, 2012
Filed:
Mar 16, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/049692
Inventors:
Paul LITTLEFIELD - Menlo Park CA, US
Jessica P. Yang - Sunnyvale CA, US
Edward E. Yip - Dublin CA, US
Kim Man Chan - Palo Alto CA, US
Edward Lu - San Bruno CA, US
Brigitte Wing-Ming Chan - Milpitas CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 21/00
US Classification:
726 4
Abstract:
A method for setting permissions for a group of users of a computer system. The method includes receiving data that defines a role for a first group of users, the role including one or more permissions each defining a permitted activity of the first group of users with respect to data of users in a second group of users, and setting the one or more permissions based on the defined role.

System For Distributed Computation Processing Includes Dynamic Assignment Of Predicates To Define Interdependencies

View page
US Patent:
53296265, Jul 12, 1994
Filed:
Oct 23, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/601990
Inventors:
Johannes Klein - San Francisco CA
Alberto Lutgardo - Santa Clara CA
Edward Y. Chang - Santa Clara CA
Edward C. Cheng - S. San Francisco CA
Dora L. Lee - San Francisco CA
Edward S. Lu - San Bruno CA
Assignee:
Digital Equipment Corporation - Maynard MA
International Classification:
G06F 1516
US Classification:
395375
Abstract:
During the processing of a transaction or other distributed computation, a computation management system creates a number of agents to handle various aspects or portions of the computations to be performed. Each agent progresses through a predefined set of state transitions which define the status of the agent at any point in time. The computation management system defines for each agent a set of dependencies, each dependency corresponding to a state transition which will be blocked until a particular state transition occurs in another specified agent. By defining selected combinations of dependencies for each agent, a variety of different interdependencies and cooperating protocols can be implemented. The distributed processing management system can be used both for managing transaction processing and for synchronizing events in other types of distributed computations.

Calibrating Radars And Tracking Space Objects

View page
US Patent:
20220350012, Nov 3, 2022
Filed:
Oct 11, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/767209
Inventors:
- Menlo Park CA, US
John Buonocore - Redwood City CA, US
Daniel Ceperley - Redwood City CA, US
Edward Lu - Saratoga CA, US
Steven Chen - Mountain View CA, US
Christopher Rosner - Redwood City CA, US
Matthew Stevenson - San Jose CA, US
Craig Trumbull - San Francisco CA, US
Gerald Wong - Cupertino CA, US

Nathan Griffith - Damascus OR, US
International Classification:
G01S 13/72
G01S 7/40
H01Q 19/17
H01Q 3/30
Abstract:
Technologies for calibrating radars and tracking space objects. Some of such technologies enable a technique for calibrating a radar based on using -A- an elemental antenna (), which can be embedded on a housing hosting a set of antenna elements, or -B- an antenna () mounted to a reflector. Some of such technologies enable a radar site containing a first 1D phased array () and a second 1D phased array (), where the first 1D phased array sends a set of signals and receives a set of reflections based on the set of signals, and the second 1D phased array receives the set of reflections.

Data Access By External Users

View page
US Patent:
20170324740, Nov 9, 2017
Filed:
May 6, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/147911
Inventors:
- Walldorf, DE
Zhi ZHANG - Shanghai, CN
Neil Jayesh PATEL - Menlo Park CA, US
Edward LU - American Canyon CA, US
Jessica YANG - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
G06F 21/62
Abstract:
Described herein is a framework for providing and securing data access by external users. In accordance with one aspect of the framework, an external schema is generated to pair with an existing company schema in a database. The company schema may own data stored in the database. One or more access-control views that expose one or more subsets of the data may further be generated. The external schema may be granted access to the one or more access-control views. Synonyms may be created to rename access-control views, so that the synonyms share common names with corresponding database objects accessible via the company schema. External users may then access the data visible to them via the synonyms that are used to alias the access-control views.

Role-Based Permissions For Hierarchy-Based Relationships

View page
US Patent:
20170195329, Jul 6, 2017
Filed:
Dec 30, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/984097
Inventors:
- South San Francisco CA, US
Yulong Yang - Shanghai, CN
Lu Luo - Daly City CA, US
Jessica Yang - Sunnyvale CA, US
Edward Lu - American Canyon CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
Abstract:
Some embodiments provide a program that receives, from an application, a role-based permission (RBP) request specifying an RBP, a first user, and a second user. The RBP specifies a set of actions, a first set of users authorized to perform the set of actions, a second set of users on which the first set of users is authorized to perform the set of actions, and a relationship condition. When the relationship condition specifies a hierarchy-based relationship, the program determines valid users in the second set of users according to a hierarchy of users. When the relationship condition specifies a non-hierarchy-based relationship, the program determines valid users in the second set of users according to a relationship not based on the hierarchy of users. The program determines whether the first user is authorized to perform the set of actions on the second user based on the determined valid users.
