Switch Fabric Capable Of Aggregating Multiple Chips And Links For High Bandwidth Operation

View page
US Patent:
6965602, Nov 15, 2005
Filed:
Jan 12, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/759434
Inventors:
Dipak Shah - San Jose CA, US
Tzu-Jen Kuo - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Peta Switch Solutions, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H04L012/56
US Classification:
3703954, 370392, 370401, 370412
Abstract:
A switching fabric capable of supporting high bandwidth switching operations is disclosed. In one aspect, multiple switching chips and multiple links thereto are used to provide a high bandwidth switching fabric. In another aspect, payload data is transmitted following grant of its previously transmitted corresponding request. In yet another aspect, the switching fabric operates in a pipelined manner.

Switch Fabric With Efficient Spatial Multicast

View page
US Patent:
20020131412, Sep 19, 2002
Filed:
Apr 13, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/834964
Inventors:
Dipak Shah - San Jose CA, US
Tzu-Jen Kuo - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
H04L012/28
H04J003/02
US Classification:
370/390000, 370/412000, 370/462000
Abstract:
Efficient techniques for processing multicast requests in a switch system are disclosed. The efficient techniques lead to substantial reduction in switch system bandwidth consumption while processing multicast requests. In one embodiment, a multicast queue is used to hold multicast blocks of data (e.g., cells) that are to be switched, and duplication of the blocks of data for delivery to multiple destinations (e.g., ports) is performed by a switch device (e.g., crossbar switch) as opposed to storage queues or repeated transfers from storage queues to the switch device.

Switch Fabric With Bandwidth Efficient Flow Control

View page
US Patent:
20030021230, Jan 30, 2003
Filed:
Mar 9, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/802434
Inventors:
Tzu-Jen Kuo - San Jose CA, US
Dipak Shah - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
PetaSwitch Solutions, Inc.
International Classification:
H04L001/00
H04J001/16
H04J003/14
US Classification:
370/230000, 370/412000
Abstract:
An improved approach for applying flow control within a switch system is disclosed. The improved approach makes use of scheduling operations performed by the switch system to implement receive-side flow control. Transmit-side flow control is independently provided. The improved approach of the invention enables the switch system to provide flow control in a bandwidth efficient manner.

Hardware And Software Product Development Using Supervised Learning

View page
US Patent:
20220253579, Aug 11, 2022
Filed:
Oct 25, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/509352
Inventors:
- San Jose CA, US
Dipak Shah - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 30/27
Abstract:
A method of electronic hardware development includes training a machine-learning model to replicate behavior of a hardware system under development, using output of a first model of the hardware system. The machine-learning model is distinct from the first model. The method also includes providing first test data as inputs to the machine-learning model, receiving results for the first test data from the machine-learning model, and analyzing the results for the first test data to identify any errors.
