F-Inverted Compact Antenna For Wireless Sensor Networks And Manufacturing Method

View page
US Patent:
8040291, Oct 18, 2011
Filed:
May 22, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/470905
Inventors:
Bo Yang - McLean VA, US
Felice M. Vanin - Rome, IT
Xi Shao - Potomac MD, US
Quirino Balzano - Annapolis MD, US
Neil Goldsman - Takoma Park MD, US
Assignee:
University of Maryland - College Park MD
International Classification:
H01Q 9/30
US Classification:
343895
Abstract:
An F-inverted compact antenna for ultra-low volume Wireless Sensor Networks is developed with a volume of 0. 024λ×0. 06λ×0. 076λ, ground plane included, where λ is a resonating frequency of the antenna. The radiation efficiency attained is 48. 53% and the peak gain is −1. 38 dB. The antenna is easily scaled to higher operating frequencies up to 2500 MHz bands with comparable performance. The antenna successfully transmits and receives signals with tolerable errors. It includes a standard PCB board with dielectric block thereon and helically contoured antenna wound from a copper wire attached to the dielectric block and oriented with the helix axis parallel to the PCB. The antenna demonstrates omnidirectional radiation patterns and is highly integratable with WSN, specifically in Smart Dust sensors. The antenna balances the trade offs between performance and overall size and may be manufactured with the use of milling technique and laser cutters.

Assignee:
GM Global Technology Operations LLC - Detroit MI
International Classification:
F02D 9/10
F02D 9/16
US Classification:
123336, 123337
Abstract:
An intake air flow control assembly includes an actuator, a valve shaft, a first valve member and a drive member. The actuator includes a drive shaft defining a first rotational axis. The valve shaft defines a second rotational axis. The first valve member is fixed for rotation with the valve shaft and adjusts air flow from an intake manifold to an engine intake port. The drive member is engaged with the drive shaft and the valve shaft. The drive member extends around an outer circumference of the drive shaft and around an outer circumference of the valve shaft. The drive shaft is rotatable in first and second rotational directions opposite one another to rotate the valve shaft via the drive member and rotationally displace the first valve member.

Assignee:
GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLC - Detroit MI
International Classification:
B60S 1/56
B60S 1/08
Abstract:
A sensor assembly includes a sensor and a cover disposed adjacent to the sensor to protect the sensor. The cover has an inner cover surface and an outer cover surface opposite the inner cover surface. The inner cover surface faces the sensor, and the outer cover surface faces away from the sensor. The cover has a first end wall and a second end wall apart from the first end wall along a first direction. The sensor assembly includes a cleaning system having a wiper movable along the outer cover surface of the cover in the first direction to clean to the outer cover surface. The wiper is at least partly made of a wiper material, and the wiper material includes a hydrophilic material to facilitate removal of water from the outer cover surface of the cover.

US Patent:
20190277159, Sep 12, 2019
Filed:
Mar 9, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/916331
Inventors:
- Detroit MI, US
Fanghui Shi - Bloomfield Hills MI, US
Yuchuan Liu - TROY MI, US
Bo Yang - Troy MI, US
Louis P. Begin - Rochester MI, US
International Classification:
F01D 25/16
F16C 17/02
F02C 6/12
Abstract:
A turbocharger assembly includes a center housing which defines a bore, a journal bearing, and a rotating assembly. The bore further defines primary and secondary annular grooves. The journal bearing may be disposed within the bore such that the annular groove encircles the journal bearing and feeds the fluid thereto. The rotating assembly includes a shaft, a turbine wheel and a compressor wheel. The turbine wheel is configured to be driven by the post-combustion gasses while the compressor wheel pressurizes the airflow for delivery to a combustion chamber. The shaft may be supported by one or more journal bearings for rotation within the bore about a longitudinal axis. The shaft includes a shaft surface which defines a standard region and a feature in a feature region. The feature is configured to generate a plurality of fictitious forces which stabilizes the turbocharger shaft.

Tubeless Lubrication Delivery System For A Compact Transfer Case

View page
US Patent:
20180319276, Nov 8, 2018
Filed:
May 4, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/586859
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Mallikarjun Rudagi - Auburn Hills MI, US
Michael Whitaker - Anderson SC, US
Bo Yang - Central SC, US
Stephen Tucker - Muncie IN, US
Robert Harris - Pickens SC, US
International Classification:
B60K 17/346
B60K 23/08
Abstract:
A transfer case for a normally rear wheel drive vehicle with selective four wheel drive capabilities is provided. The transfer case has an intermediate gear driven lubrication pump, wherein the machining required for the lubrication pump is almost exclusively conducted from an interior side of the rear shell. The transfer case of the present invention also eliminates the requirement for a cover plate for the pump and an external lubrication tube. The transfer case of the current invention has an internal lubrication pump outlet which has a portion extending in a reinforcing mound of the rear shell thereby providing greater stiffness to a portion of the rear shell supporting the main input shaft rear bearings.
