View page
US Patent:
6725220, Apr 20, 2004
Filed:
Nov 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/998275
Inventors:
William N. Stratigos - New York NY
Richard L. Mann - Bronx NY
Assignee:
Comfidex Corp. - New York NY
International Classification:
G06F 1730
US Classification:
707 10, 715507, 705 38, 705 4, 709203, 709219
Abstract:
In an Internet-based process, a method of integrating paper-based business documents requiring an original signature with electronic data about those documents, and for later retrieving the data entered by the end user to create the documents is characterized by the steps of having the end user enter all required information for creating the required document, saving the gathered data in a database, associating the saved data with a unique identification code, and printing the unique identification code on the paper-based document when it is printed by the end user. The method can further include verification steps for the business client to independently verify the information entered, certification steps for the end user to certify the information entered, and fraud detection elements to protect against altered information on the documents. The printed paper-based document is signed by the end user, and submitted with supporting documentation. When the document is received by the business client, the business client inputs the identification code which is then used to access the stored data, and populate the business clients own database with all of the data used to create the original documents.

Method And Apparatus For Transferring Data To A Remote Workstation Using Communications Established As A Background Function At Time Workstation

US Patent:
57245746, Mar 3, 1998
Filed:
Apr 2, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/630042
Inventors:
William N. Stratigos - New York NY
Richard S. Yien - New York NY
Assignee:
Remote Systems Company, LLC - Scarsdale NY
Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield - NY NY
Wang Software N.Y., Inc.
International Classification:
G06F 1500
H04J 312
US Classification:
395610
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for processing at a remote workstation, data files that are compressed and collected into groups on a local area network at a central location. The files of a group are transferred to the workstation over an ISDN switched telephone network in response to an automatic requests from the workstations. The workstation requests depend on the inventory of unprocessed files at the workstation as well as the time and date, in order to reduce the connection time. When files are received at the workstation the first is immediately decompressed and presented to the operator. In the meantime the next file which the operated is expected to need is decompressed in the background and is ready for processing as soon as the operator finishes with the first. When the operator switches to the next file the processing results are automatically saved and a further file is decompressed an held in a que for the operator.

High-Speed Document Verification System

View page
US Patent:
55374867, Jul 16, 1996
Filed:
Nov 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/612557
Inventors:
William N. Stratigos - New York NY
Stephen R. Landau - Forest Hills NY
Assignee:
Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield - New York NY
Sigma Imaging Systems, Inc. - New York NY
International Classification:
G06K 900
G06K 903
B42D 1500
G07D 700
US Classification:
382137
Abstract:
A high-speed document verification system includes a document which is printed with a pattern having a predetermined arrangement of different reflectivity due to varying densities, line resolutions, or fluorescence. The arrangement represents information about the document. The document is fed into a high-speed document scanner sensitive to the varying ink densities or line resolutions. A graphic image of the document is produced by the scanner and this image or a graphic file of the image is checked to see if the proper pattern exists. A comparison unit, such as an optical character recognition system may be used to compare the scanned document's image with known density arrangements of valid documents to determine what information, if any, is represented by the arrangement. The graphic image may be sent to an operator's work station to be visually checked rather than being compared by the comparison unit or the image may be sent to the operator after it has been rejected by the comparison unit.
