Uplink Data Arrival Random Access Procedure

View page
US Patent:
20120127930, May 24, 2012
Filed:
Nov 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/951938
Inventors:
Bao Vinh Nguyen - Corona CA, US
Shailesh Maheshwari - San Diego CA, US
Girish Khandelwal - San Diego CA, US
Mouaffac Ambriss - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM INCORPORATED - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 12/06
US Classification:
370329
Abstract:
User equipment (UE) transmits an access response to a random access procedure (RACH) preamble message to acquire an uplink grant from a node of a wireless communication system. The access response provides an uplink grant to the UE for a request for authorization to transmit uplink data to the node. In response to determining that the access response message provides an uplink grant sufficient to empty the UE's data buffer, the UE transmits the request for authorization including the uplink data to the node. The UE can then terminate the RACH procedure without requiring any subsequent uplink grant from the node, having accomplished successful data transmission using the request for authorization.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.

Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Arvind Vardarajan SANTHANAM - San Diego CA, US
Carlos Marcelo Dias PAZOS - Carlsbad CA, US
Vikram SINGH - San Diego CA, US
Mouaffac AMBRISS - San Diego CA, US

International Classification:
H04W 36/18
H04W 36/08
H04W 36/30
H04B 17/318
H04W 36/00
Abstract:
A configuration is disclosed to enable a UE to preempt SRVCC by triggering a handover to a Wi-Fi network. The apparatus determines whether a Wi-Fi cell is viable as a first target cell, from a plurality of target cells, serving the UE to continue the active transmission on the Wi-Fi cell. The apparatus extends a TTT timer length based at least in part on the determination that the Wi-Fi cell is viable as the target cell serving the UE to continue the active transmission on the Wi-Fi cell. The apparatus initiates a handover to the Wi-Fi cell from the first network prior to the expiration of a TTT timer and prior to the first network initiating a handover to a second target cell, from the plurality of target cells, on a second network.

Abstract:
Wireless communications systems and methods related to wireless communications in a system are provided. A user equipment (UE) may determine a plurality of antenna configurations for a plurality of channel frequencies. The UE may determine a set of signal strengths for at least one beam received at one or more antenna configurations of the plurality of antenna configurations for at least one of the channel frequencies. The UE may select, based on the set of signal strengths, a first antenna configuration of the plurality of antenna configurations. After selection of the first antenna configuration, the UE may communicate with a base station, in one or more channel frequencies based on the first antenna configuration.

Filed:
Dec 7, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/247308
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Xipeng ZHU - San Diego CA, US
Arvind Vardarajan SANTHANAM - San Diego CA, US
Ozcan OZTURK - San Diego CA, US

Filed:
Aug 21, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/832648
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US

US Patent:
20160066223, Mar 3, 2016
Filed:
Aug 29, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/473429
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Mouaffac Ambriss - San Diego CA, US
Mutaz Zuhier Afif Shukair - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04W 36/00
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a base station. A base station may identify a service type of a mobile device (e.g., voice, web-browsing, or video download). The base station may then determine handover or measurement parameters for the mobile device based on the service type. The base station may also determine a performance metric of the service type. The base station may then adjust the set of parameters based at least in part on the performance metric. In some cases, the base station may select a measurement configuration based on the adjusted parameters.
