Frying Oil Evaluator Method And Composition

View page
US Patent:
43493530, Sep 14, 1982
Filed:
Sep 25, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/305841
Inventors:
Michael M. Blumenthal - Metuchen NJ
Jerry R. Stockler - Wantagh NY
Assignee:
Oil Process Systems, Inc. - Allentown PA
International Classification:
G01N 3302
G01N 3328
US Classification:
23230R
Abstract:
A method and composition for a determination of alkaline materials such as soap in fat are disclosed. In the disclosed method, a predetermined amount of a test solution containing a solvent and a dye is mixed with fat; the fat and test solution are allowed to separate into two phases; and the color developed in one of the phases is compared with a known standard to determine the amount of alkaline materials in the fat. A test solution and test kit for performing the method are also disclosed.

Apparatus For Reforming A Frozen Confection Slug On A Stick

View page
US Patent:
47611286, Aug 2, 1988
Filed:
Apr 18, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/601108
Inventors:
Roscoe T. Fowler - New York NY
Arthur Hochhauser - Allentown PA
Harold B. Kaufman - New York NY
John P. McCarthy - Huntington NY
Jerry Stockler - Wantagh NY
Assignee:
DCA Food Industries, Inc. - New York NY
International Classification:
A23G 926
B29C 3904
B29C 4304
US Classification:
4251262
Abstract:
Apparatus for producing novel three dimensional shaped frozen confection products on a stick. A molded slug of frozen confection having a generic shape is converted into a three dimensional frozen confection having any desired shape including shapes having variable cross-sections and undercut portions. The desired final shape is formed by the application of pressure to the slug, without significant melting of the slug, using a split mold which defines the final three dimensional shape by controlling the temperature of the slug and the relative size and shape of the slug and mold cavity.

Method And Test Kit For Determining The Amount Of Polar Substances In Fat

View page
US Patent:
47313323, Mar 15, 1988
Filed:
May 31, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/739930
Inventors:
Michael M. Blumenthal - Metuchen NJ
Jerry R. Stockler - Wantagh NY
Assignee:
Oil Process Systems, Inc. - Allentown PA
International Classification:
G01N 2101
G01N 3303
US Classification:
436 61
Abstract:
A composition and test kit for determining the amount of polar substances in fat are disclosd by employing a test solution which is immiscible with the fat in question, and which provides a polychromatic visible or fluorescent color change in the test solution in response to characteristic amounts of polar substances in the fat. The visible or fluorescent color change can be used to compare to a known standard to determine the amount of polar substances in the fat.

Method And Apparatus For Determining Non-Triglycerides In Oils

View page
US Patent:
50554107, Oct 8, 1991
Filed:
Mar 2, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/318113
Inventors:
Michael M. Blumenthal - Metuchen NJ
Jerry R. Stockler - Wantagh NY
Harry M. Van Tassell - Watchung NJ
Assignee:
Libra Laboratories, Inc. - Piscataway NJ
International Classification:
G01N 3303
US Classification:
436 60
Abstract:
A method and diagnostic test unit for the determination of one or more non-triglycerides in an oil using an oil-miscible test solution prepared from an oil-miscible vehicle of monoglycerides, diglycerides or mixtures thereof and an indicator deliverable in admixture with the vehicle for assaying the non-triglycerides, wherein the indicator in combination with the non-triglycerides forms a reaction product characteristic of the amount of the non-triglycerides, and the indicator and vehicle are present in quantities and at a pH effective to provide detectable quantities of reaction product. The reaction product development is compared to a known standard to determine the presence or amount of the non-triglycerides in the oil.
